Requirements for Use
Operator Training: Operators of utility carts are required to receive proper training to understand the vehicle's operating procedures and safety measures.
Lighting and Warning Devices: Vehicles must be equipped with lights and reflectors if they are operated during periods of low visibility or at night. Additionally, all utility carts should have an audible warning device to alert other workers and pedestrians, enhancing safety in crowded or noisy operational areas.
Seat Belts and Rollover Protection: While seat belts and rollover protective structures (ROPS) are not universally required for all utility carts, they are crucial for those used in hazardous conditions or over rough terrain. If the vehicle is likely to be used in situations where rollovers could occur, fitting it with ROPS or purchasing carts with ROPS included is required in order to reduce the risk of injuries.
General Vehicle Safety and Maintenance: Regular inspections and maintenance of utility carts is necessary to ensure they are safe to operate. This includes checking the functionality of brakes, lights, and other critical components regularly.

Cart Security: Remove keys when not in use to prevent unauthorized access.
Prohibited Actions: No cell phone use while driving, no passengers in the cart bed, and no overloading.
Load Limits: Adhere to load restrictions and ensure oversized loads are properly flagged.
Parking Protocol: Use parking brakes, especially on inclines, and turn wheels away from water bodies as a precaution.
Regulatory Compliance: Follow local laws for public road usage and yield to pedestrians on private roads.
Maintenance and Reporting: Report any issues, accidents, or unauthorized modifications to supervisors or maintenance teams immediately.
